MISSION
Syssoma Church exists to make disciples who know Jesus, follow Jesus, and bring others to do the same.
VISION
Our vision is to see the city of Republic and the surrounding area transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the faithful work of His body.
We hope to do our part in this by evangelizing the lost, discipling believers, serving those in need, and mobilizing the body to do the work of the ministry.
We desire to see people who do not know Christ hear and respond to the Gospel, not only through the proclamation of its message but through the faithful presence of Christians living as witnesses in the places God has put them. We want the church to be a people who go beyond its walls to love their neighbors, serve those in need, and make the hope of Jesus visible in everyday life.
We desire to see believers grow toward maturity in Christ through intentional discipleship, faithful teaching, shared life, prayer, worship, and service. Rather than viewing ministry as the work of a few leaders, we want to equip every member of the body to recognize and use the gifts God has given them for the good of others and the work of His Kingdom.
We also desire to work alongside other faithful churches wherever our shared commitment to the Gospel allows. We believe the Church serves its community most faithfully when local congregations view one another as partners rather than competitors and are willing to encourage one another, serve together, and pursue the good of the places God has called us to.
Ultimately, we hope to see a growing body of disciples who love Christ, are becoming more like Him, serve one another faithfully, and are equipped to carry the Gospel into their homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities—making disciples who, in turn, make disciples.
Why Syssoma?
Syssoma comes from the Greek word σύσσωμα (syssōma), used in Ephesians 3:6 to mean “of the same body” or “fellow members of the body.”
In Ephesians, Paul describes the mystery revealed through the Gospel: through Jesus Christ, people who were once separated have been brought together as fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the same promise.
This is at the heart of what we believe the Gospel does. Jesus not only reconciles us to God; He also joins us to one another as His Church. Our unity is not based on background, preference, personality, culture, nationality, or status, but on our shared life in Christ.
That unity extends far beyond any one local congregation. In Christ, we are joined to the one universal Church—believers from every nation and culture, throughout the world and throughout history, who have confessed Jesus Christ as Lord. We worship as one local expression of a much larger body that spans generations, cultures, and places.
Because we are members of the same body, we also desire to live in meaningful fellowship and cooperation with other faithful churches. Wherever we share the Gospel and the foundational truths of the Christian faith, we want to encourage one another, pray for one another, serve our communities together, and work side by side for the good of our neighbors and the advance of Christ’s Kingdom. We do not see other churches as competitors, but as fellow members of the body of Christ, each called to faithfulness in the place and work God has given them.
The name Syssoma therefore expresses both our identity and our calling. As a local church, we seek to live as faithful members of Christ’s universal body: loving and serving one another, growing together in Christ, bearing one another’s burdens, using our different gifts for the good of the whole, partnering with other churches when possible, and joining together in God’s mission.
